100 combines break record near Winkler

A new world record was set Saturday afternoon in Winkler for Children's Camps International.

160 acres of winter wheat was harvested in 11min 16 sec.

The farmers were doubtful they could pull off the record when the area received 1/2 inch of rain on Friday.

But the sun came out and the wind picked up to help dry the field and they went ahead.

The swath was damp but was consistent so it went through well.

Guenther adds he got involved because it was a good cause.

A huge crowd was out for the event with traffic backed up all along Highway 32 out of Winkler.
