Greg DeVillers, Grand Forks Herald - All-state guard Tony Ironheart paced Four Winds with 17 points. But the Indians showed their balance in building an insurmountable first-half lead when Ironheart missed extensive time due to foul problems.
Four Winds pulled away to 20-11 and 45-24 leads at the first two quarter stops and never trailed in the second half. Sparking the early run was Chanze Herman, who had 13 of his 16 points in the first half, and Zack Alberts, who scored 11 of his 13 in the opening 16 minutes.
“Our other guys are very capable of scoring like that,” Four Winds coach Rick Smith said. “All five of the starters average in double figures. We're not afraid to run our offense without Tony. But it sometimes can go stale for us when he's not in there.”
C.J. Ironheart and Reno Littleghost also reached double figures with 14 and 12 points, respectively, for the 15-1 Indians. Four Winds, which is tied in the 10th spot in the latest Class B state poll, won its 12th consecutive game.
Paul Meyer had 18 points and Mike Smith 16 to pace the 11-4 Eagles. Smith had a double double, as he also grabbed 12 rebounds.
