Jessie M. Paton

Jessie M. Paton, age 95, of Neche, ND died on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla ,ND where she has resided for the past four years. Jessie M. Sanders was born September 4, 1911, near Neche, ND to George and Anna (Gauger) Sanders. She grew up in the Park Center area and graduated from Neche High School. After attending Valley City Teachers College, she taught in area country schools. On November 10, 1940, she married Lawson Paton at the Park Center Presbyterian Church. They farmed and resided in the Neche area. She was a member of the Park Center Homemakers, Mission Circle, Ladies Aide, and also of the Neche United Methodist Church. Jessie was the newswriter covering the Park Center area for the Cavalier Chronicle and Walhalla Mountaineer. All of her married years she was an avid scrap booker and historian, covering the Park Center, Neche, and Walhalla areas. She was know as a gracious hostess, her door was always open to others for meals and friendship. She is survived by her husband, Lawson; children, Luverne (Sharon) Paton, Hampstead, NH; Lyle (Helen) Paton, Minneapolis, MN; Roy (Betty) Paton, Neche, ND; and Royce Paton, Fergus Falls, MN; four grandchildren, Mark, Kevin, Kadie, and Jenna Paton; four great grandchildren; nieces, Lorene Johnston, Jerilyn Wilbanks, Ramona Kalis, and Sandra Nichols, and nephew, Gordon Sanders. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters, two half brothers, a half sister, and one nephew. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pembilier Nursing Center. Online guest book may be signed at
