Lincoln C. Edgar

Lincoln C. Edgar age 78, of Bathgate, ND died on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial in the Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, ND. Lincoln Cherry Edgar was born June 21, 1929, at Kyle, Saskatchewan, Canada to Alex and Norma (Eastman) Edgar. He grew up in Carlisle Township, with his aunt Dottie Eastman and uncle Allen Eastman, receiving his education at the Carlisle Township School. He served in the U.S. Army and after his discharge returned to the family farm, where he farmed the rest of his life. Farming the land he grew up on and tilling with his John Deere tractor was one of the loves of his life. Lincolns love of people was evident, in the way he liked to visit and trade old stories. Music was another passion of his, as he was Ramblin Abe in the country band Ramblin Abe and the Valley Ramblers. He performed in this band for over 50 years and was very proud of his bookings. On November 1, 1957, he married Beverly Dumas at Neche, ND. He is survived by his children, Gary (Nanette) Edgar, Frenchtown, MT; Debbie Helgoe, Cavalier, ND; Russell (Holly) Edgar and Sharon (Ted) Zaharia, all of Bathgate, ND; grandchildren, Gary, Jr., Daniel, Brandy, Christina, Tyler, Brittany, Sarah, and Justin; five great grandchildren; brother, Russell Edgar Gillanders, Kyle, Saskatchewan. Preceding him in death were his parents; infant daughter, Rebecca; sister, Elsie; and brothers, Robert and Erwin. Clergy: Rev. Tom Simmons. Military Rites: Gainer-McAndrews Post #242, Neche American Legion. Honorary Pallbearers: All of Lincoln’s Family and Friends. Music: Lon Flage, Bob Murray, Dennis Schaler, and Duane Wileman, Quartet; Cheryl Hartz, Accompanist.
