Q AND A: Luke Lorenz, May-Port-C-G
Greg DeVillers - Grand Forks Herald
Lorenz was asked about the five toughest players from the area he's had to defend in the past few seasons: His picks:
-- Ryan Opdahl, Larimore: “Ryan was hard to defend because he always worked so hard. He was always driving to the basket, and he was really good on the offensive boards.”
-- Matt Anderson, Cavalier: “Matt's so strong, he was tough to move. He's the best all-around athlete I've had to guard. He didn't wear you out with his movement away from the ball but was always hard to guard because of his strength.”
-- Zach Winkler, North Border: “He had the best vertical of anybody I've played against. You'd stick with him, but he could still pull up and get his shot off over you. And you had to box him out hard or he'd get over you on the offensive boards. He could sky, and he was a quick jumper.”
-- Ethan Evenson, Hillsboro: “Ethan was always moving, wearing you out. Hillsboro would work him off double and triple picks. Hillsboro did a lot of stuff to set him up. You were always working through bodies trying to defend him.”
-- Clayton Johnson, Clearbrook-Gonvick: “He was No. 1. He moved real well without the ball, coming off screens. And he could take it to the hole or pull up and hit from long range. That's what made him so hard to guard.”
